He spent nearly two decades at ExxonMobil, where he directed strategy and regulatory oversight for one of the largest privately owned shipper rail fleets in North America. His work included business growth planning, maintenance, leasing procurement support, and compliance across a —33,000-car fleet. A long-time voting member of the AAR Tank Car Committee, Scott championed science- based regulatory outcomes that reduced costs for ExxonMobil and the broader industry. His earlier roles in tank car engineering, fleet management, and shop operations round out his deep, hands-on knowledge of railcar designs and systems.
